A number of bubble-watch players on the 49ers preseason squad have looked good in 2021, and these three should be deserving of a spot on the 53 man roster.

Ultimately, the San Francisco 49ers are going to part ways with players who did everything they could, and in some cases more, to make the team’s 53-man roster in 2021.

It’s not a terrible situation for the Niners to be in. When a team is releasing or waiving players who could be starters on a number of squads elsewhere, it’s a sign the regular-season roster is deep and has enough talent to survive cuts.

Even though San Francisco has plenty of roster questions to address, and there are still some worries about depth at certain positions, there are a number of players currently on the bubble who might not wind up surviving the final wave of cuts in advance of Week 1.

Although many are certainly deserving of a roster spot.

This kind of situation is exactly what head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch want to create. Having multiple starting- or prime backup-caliber reserves who wind up being on the bubble adds to the competition of training camp and the preseason, and it also serves to bring out the best from those who do end up sticking around into the regular season, too.

After two preseason games, however, there are a few players who should be moved off the bubble. Or at the very least, to the stronger side of it.

Particularly these three, who are certainly deserving of a roster spot.
