No. 2: 49ers defensive line depth is awfully good

Remember back in 2019 when the 49ers boasted one of the deepest and most talented defensive lines in the NFL?

Well, the 2021 edition is looking to be just as potent.

There will ultimately be quality players the Niners will cut in advance of Week 1, and some of those may be capable of starting on other rosters elsewhere this season.

Fellow EDGE Samson Ebukam registered a sack after missing the first preseason game of 2021. Defensive tackle Zach Kerr was also regularly in the backfield, too, showing he’s very much in the discussion to back up the presumed starter, D.J. Jones, this season.

But perhaps the biggest standout from the game was fourth-year pro Kentavius Street, who hadn’t been much of a factor the last two seasons after redshirting his rookie year with an ACL tear.

Judging by Street’s performances both during training camp and the preseason, including the sack below, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the 53-man roster:

The 49ers elected not to play their top two pass-rushers, Nick Bosa and Dee Ford, yet the end result sure appeared to be nonetheless impressive.

The Niners have a deep D-line, and that’s a great problem to have.
