Take a look at three bold predictions on the horizon for 49ers rookie running back Trey Sermon for the upcoming NFL season.

A lot of San Francisco 49ers fans were shocked when the front office traded two fourth-round picks to move up to the third round in the 2021 NFL Draft and select former Oklahoma and Ohio State running back Trey Sermon.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t traditionally targeted running backs that high in the draft, so it did come as a surprise.

But this already seems like a match made in heaven between the two parties, as Sermon is reportedly already proving to be worth the investment during Niners training camp and hopefully throughout the preseason.

Some people questioned the pick, as they felt the team was more than fine with their then-current stable of backs in Raheem Mostert, Wayne Gallman and Co. But with fellow rusher Jeff Wilson suffering a torn meniscus during organized team activities, San Francisco’s brass felt different.

Mostert and the rest of the 49ers rushers are entering free agency next year, so the team made the intelligent choice of securing a player who will be able to contribute to the team’s rushing attack for years to come.

But what will be Sermon’s contribution amount to in his rookie year?

Let’s take a look at three bold predictions with regards to Sermon’s rookie campaign for the 49ers.
