49ers with Madden 22 ratings over 90: RDE Nick Bosa

Considering EDGE Nick Bosa missed all but two games in 2020 with a torn ACL, it’s pretty remarkable Madden 22 is bullish on his presence in the 90 club this season.

After all, the only evidence the analysts have to go on in Bosa’s still-impressive nine-sack rookie season in 2019, which helped him earn Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades.

There are only five right defensive ends listed in the 90-plus club, and Bosa finds himself tied for fourth on that exclusive list behind the Los Angeles Rams’ Aaron Donald (99), the Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett (98), the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Cameron Heyward (92) and tied with the Baltimore Ravens’ Calais Campbell (90).

Perhaps Bosa could have edged out Campbell, but we’ll leave that to you for debate.

The Niners were represented well in 90-plus players, but they had 12 players listed within the 80s, headlined by fullback Kyle Juszczyk (87) and center Alex Mack (86).

It’s a little bit of a wonder why second-year wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (78) didn’t make it into this club, but one could fairly expect that to change after the 2021 season.

Of course, San Francisco fans will want to know what the quarterback rankings are, and this is pretty interesting:

• Jimmy Garoppolo: 76
• Trey Lance: 74

Perhaps the folks over at EA Sports are painting the picture that the 49ers’ quarterbacking competition is closer than what many others may think.

Lance is the Niners’ top-rated rookie, which isn’t a surprise, but whatever his immediate future holds will have a lasting impact on how Madden rankings are eventually reflected.
