49ers Linebacker Gary Plummer

Long-time Niners fans will remember the hometown linebacker, Gary Plummer.

He attended Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California, then he went onto play college ball at Cal.

Plummer began his NFL career with the then-San Diego Chargers in 1986 and played his first eight seasons there as a full-time starter. He signed with his hometown 49ers in 1994, and in his first season with San Francisco, he started all 16 games on the way to winning a Super Bowl.

Overall, during his four years with the Niners, Plummer would register 237 tackles and be a key part of those mid-1990s defenses until his retirement in 1998.

San Francisco fans then got to listen to Plummer a lot during the team’s radio broadcasts on the affiliate in the Bay Area, KNBR 680.
