49ers depth chart: What happens if George Kittle gets hurt?

49ers Depth TE No. 3: Charlie Woerner
MyCole Pruitt’s addition during the offseason should be a full intention to compete with the second-year pro, Charlie Woerner.
Woerner, the Niners’ sixth-round draft pick out of Georgia in 2020, earned his pedigree almost entirely because of his run-blocking skills and wasn’t much of a pass-catching weapon at all during college.
Unfortunately, the latter element of his game showed in training camp a year ago, as Woerner’s route-running skills were borderline atrocious, leading to him being little more than a jumbo-package option.
That said, Woerner still managed to haul in three receptions for 36 yards his rookie season, so at least San Francisco was somewhat comfortable getting him the ball, even if it was almost out of desperation at a point where there weren’t exactly a lot of other pass-catching options available.
Woerner could be in danger of missing out on a roster spot, though, with Pruitt in camp.
