49ers: 5 players who are facing their last chance in training camp

No. 2: 49ers Wide Receiver Kevin White
Arden Key’s stock-value drop began before he was drafted in 2018, but wide receiver Kevin White was still a hot prospective commodity when the Chicago Bears drafted him at No. 7 overall back in 2015.
Many analysts and fans, myself included, thought the 6-foot-3 receiver out of West Virginia was going to be a bona fide stud at the NFL level.
Well, nope.
Granted, injuries derailed the early start to White’s tenure with the Bears, and it’s anyone’s guess how that affected his overall value around the league. Yet it’s also understandable why Chicago eventually decided to move on in 2020 after White played just 14 games in four seasons.
But White couldn’t latch on with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, then couldn’t land with the New York Jets a year later either, leading to an eventual “emergency” signing by the 49ers in 2020 amid a slew of repeating injuries to their own crop of wide receivers.
Having just turned 29 years old, one could make the argument White’s NFL career has already stretched two years too long. The time has since passed when fans and coaching staffs could argue he has potential or is still on the ascent despite his earlier setbacks.
If White loses out on what’s likely to be a heated wide receiver competition during Niners training camp, it could ultimately be the last time he sees the field.
