49ers roster predictions: 4 bold changes for 2021 lineup

No. 2: Jauan Jennings secures 49ers’ No. 3 wide receiver role
Considering where he was a year ago, this would be quite the development.
In 2020, then-rookie wide receiver Jauan Jennings was considered a steal in Round 7 of that year’s draft. But a poor showing during training camp, following a complete lack of on-field activities, ultimately meant the 6-foot-3 Jennings landed on the practice squad.
Things have noticeably changed since, though.
The Niners have a void for their No. 3 wide receiver this season. Yet the early showings have pointed to Jennings being a front-runner to assume the spot vacated by now-New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.

Right now, it’s coming down to Jennings and the savvy veteran, Mohamed Sanu.
While Sanu could easily showcase his experience and push Jennings back down the depth chart, there’s just as good a chance Jennings displays the traits that made him an exceptional physical possession receiver back at Tennessee.
In this bold prediction, Jennings wins out and goes from a practice squad player to essentially being a starter within a year’s time.
