Jimmy Garoppolo: How many games does 49ers QB start in 2021?
By Peter Panacy
Jimmy Garoppolo moved or benched sooner than expected
The 2021 offseason quarterback market has slowed a lot since the NFL Draft, and there aren’t exactly a lot of suitors potentially interested in Garoppolo’s services.
At least not right now.
This might not be the case for long, though, as there are surely going to be at least a handful of quarterback-needy teams out there between now and the 2021 NFL trade deadline, expected to be on Nov. 2. Whether it’s due to injuries to starters, poor play or whatever, another team could easily call the 49ers about a would-be trade for Garoppolo.
The Niners, too, could be one of those teams experiencing poor play. Should Jimmy G scuffle out of the gate, he certainly wouldn’t reach those 17 starts as calls for Lance ring out.
San Francisco wouldn’t even have to move Garoppolo in this particular scenario, rather it could easily put him on the bench and see how well Lance performs after being thrust into the starting role.
