A study on most trolled and beloved NFL players on Twitter showed George Kittle is more popular and positively engaged than Patrick Mahomes.

Maybe it’s because of his unique personality, but would you believe San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is more popular on Twitter than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes?

Well, according to one study, that’s the case.

OLBG.com recently performed a study breaking down the most trolled NFL athletes, as well as those receiving the most positive interactions from fans on Twitter. And while the Niners didn’t have any of their players listed as the most trolled, Kittle made the list for being one of those most beloved.

@gkittle46 (Kittle’s Twitter handle, in case you didn’t know) received 51.7 percent positive tweets, while @PatrickMahomes was at 46.5 percent.

At least in terms of Twitter adoration, Kittle is the better player, right?

But if Mahomes wants to have a last laugh, three Chiefs players were included on the list of most-adored on Twitter: Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce (49.3 percent) and wide receiver Tyreek Hill (45.4 percent), whereas Kittle was San Francisco’s lone player to make the list.

George Kittle is most beloved tight end, top player in NFC West

Interestingly enough, Kittle isn’t just above Mahomes in the rankings of most beloved players on Twitter.

He’s actually No. 3 out of the entire group, edged out only by the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers (56.1 percent) and Aaron Jones (53.0 percent). Why Jones is ranked so high is anyone’s guess, but perhaps there are plenty of Packers fans out there who adore Jones, too, so that’s fine.

But Kittle being ranked so high means two things: He’s the most popular tight end out there, beating out Kelce and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Rob Gronkowski (51.3 percent), only going to reinforce how there’s been an emergence of a personality cult with the 49ers’ superstar.

Nothing wrong with that.

According to the study, this easily makes Kittle the most popular player within the NFC West, as no other player from within this division make the ranks of listed players.

Flipping over to the most trolled players, disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was far and away the player receiving the most negative Tweets (41.5 percent), while New Orleans Saints wide receiver was No. 2 on that particular list at 25.9 percent.

And for the kicker, the study showed approximately one in four fans admitted they used a fake social media account to talk trash to players.

One more lovely element of social media, right?

At least Kittle isn’t getting too much of that, though.
