No. 2: 49ers face D.K. Metcalf, Seahawks in Weeks 4 and 13

What arguably makes Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf an even more potent threat than Julio Jones or the other two wideouts listed up to this point is the fact the Niners get to see him twice this upcoming season.

Perhaps more, should Seattle and San Francisco wind up facing each other in the playoffs.

Metcalf’s Pro Bowl 2020 campaign was pretty epic: 83 receptions for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns, and he’s well on his way towards becoming one of the five best wide receivers in football today. His 6-foot-4, 229-pound tight end-like frame combined with elite-level speed makes for a weapon any team would want.

Unfortunately for the 49ers and the rest of the NFC West, they get to experience his potency twice a year.

Metcalf has already faced the Niners four times, recording 27 receptions for 333 yards — by far the most against any team over his young two-year career. Against the Los Angeles Rams, whom he’s faced four times as well, Metcalf has only 209 yards.

Needless to say, Metcalf is a player who figures to do a lot of damage to San Francisco this season.

Just hopefully not too much.
