No. 3: 49ers face Davante Adams, Packers in Week 3

So much of this placement of Green Bay Packers four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams on the list hinges on what happens with quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason and into the regular season.

If Rodgers somehow winds up forcing his trade away from Green Bay or sits out into the regular season, particularly with the Packers playing the Niners on Sunday Night Football early in the year in Week 3, Adams is nowhere near the kind of threat he’d be.

Certainly not with quarterback Jordan Love trying to get him the ball.

But if things smooth over with the future Hall of Fame quarterback and the Packers front office, Adams suddenly reverts back to being one of the league’s top receiving threats.

You know, the one who led the entire NFL last season with 18 receiving touchdowns and an average of 98.1 receiving yards per game?

Luckily for San Francisco, perhaps, Adams won’t be teaming up with Julio Jones, and Green Bay still remains an NFC contender with Rodgers in tow and Jones not around regardless.

That said, Adams remains a key threat despite the 49ers’ relatively successful efforts, recently, against the Packers in a non-2020 type campaign.
