No. 2: RB Raheem Mostert

I know, I know. I just listed Jeff Wilson on the page before this one, but hear me out.

It would say a lot about new additions, Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell, if the 49ers were to cut ties with their starting rusher, Raheem Mostert, but that’s kind of the point of this article: “What ifs.”

If Sermon and Mitchell go ballistic during this year’s offseason program, who knows if the Niners front office will be able to resist cutting Mostert. This would come as an absolute shock to the majority of reporters and fans, but I don’t think it’s something that’s absolutely impossible, especially with Mostert getting up there in age and his constant injury troubles.

Mostert is an extremely talented, underrated running back and has contributed a great deal to this team over the last few years, but I do think it’s in the realm of possibility Kyle Shanahan drafted Sermon to replace Mostert sooner than later.

This would definitely be a move that would stir the media pot, but it would result in some interesting storylines with regards to San Francisco’s rushing game for the upcoming season.
