The 49ers are mostly done setting up their offseason roster for training camp and eventually the regular season, but these three moves sure would help.

Between now and the start of training camp in late July, the only moves the San Francisco 49ers are likely to make are the ones towards the back end of their roster.

Kind of like bidding farewell to fifth-string quarterback Josh Johnson and uber-reserve tight end Daniel Helm earlier this week.

For the most part, the Niners offseason roster is set as the team works through OTAs and mandatory minicamp towards training camp, the preseason and eventually Week 1 when 90 players are cut down to 53.

That said, San Francisco’s roster still has holes in it. Yet general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have never shied away from trying to improve the roster however and wherever possible if the means are reasonable. It’s one of the reasons why the 49ers aggressively traded up during this year’s NFL Draft to land quarterback Trey Lance as an eventual heir apparent to the team’s current starter, Jimmy Garoppolo.

But with the June 1 date now cleared, thereby having no effect on compensatory-pick formulas for 2022, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Lynch and Shanahan pull off some additional moves in the coming days or weeks.

Some of them may be needed, too.

The Niners need to look at making three additional moves to bolster the roster where it’s needed, reinforcing some areas while also trimming up the competition at spots where offseason reps are going to be at a premium.

Here are three moves San Francisco should engineer right away to help the team.
