49ers: 5 players put on notice by San Francisco’s NFL Draft moves
No. 1: 49ers OL Daniel Brunskill
This is the player everyone was probably expecting to see on this list as the 49ers front office went ahead and used one of their premium picks to draft one of the highest-rated guards in the 2021 draft class in Notre Dame’s Aaron Banks, which will ultimately mean Daniel Brunskill‘s days as the teams starting guard are numbered.
The Banks pick ultimately means Brunskill will be stuck in a constant camp battle throughout the summer to attempt to hold onto his job as one of the team’s starting interior linemen. But the odds are already not in his favor, as Banks is a physical freak and is being touted as a potential star at the guard position if he is everything the 49ers think he is.

At 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds, Banks is one of the biggest players in this class and will be able to bully opposing NFL defenders from the jump. He has everything you want in an offensive lineman in his size and sheer strength.
Brunskill was without a doubt put on notice following the Banks pick. And while I do think the former has proven he is more than capable of holding his own in the NFL, he is not a star player, and as we all know, all standard players on a roster are subject to being replaced at any time. I do think, though, Brunskill has shown Kyle Shanahan he deserves a spot on this roster as a “sixth man” within the offensive line unit, as he has shown the ability to play at all major positions including right guard, center and right tackle at times as well.
A player with that kind of versatility deserves to be included on any team’s gameday roster, so I know Brunskill isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
