49ers 5 toughest quarterback matchups for Jimmy Garoppolo in 2021

No. 4: Week 4 — 49ers vs. Russell Wilson, Seahawks
Long the thorn in the side of San Francisco, quarterback Russell Wilson will be the reason why the Seattle Seahawks make any headway within the oh-so tough NFC West in 2021. And for all the talk about him being disgruntled with the franchise, all signs are pointing to him remaining that kind of thorn within the division.
Wilson owns a career 14-4 record against the 49ers, which included the prime-time overtime win over the Niners back in 2019 where both he and Jimmy Garoppolo weren’t exactly dominant, both players having tossed one touchdown against one interception. Yet Wilson’s abilities to put Seattle in overtime scoring position after that botched San Francisco field goal stood out.
Those kinds of plays have made Wilson, well… Wilson.
Fortunately, the Seahawks defense doesn’t figure to be vastly improved over last year’s so-so unit, and EDGE Jadeveon Clowney, who tormented Garoppolo back during that game in 2019, is no longer in the picture.
Still, Garoppolo will have to keep pace with Wilson, who has been one of the biggest 49ers killers in recent history, and Jimmy G won’t have the luxury of playing one of those bone-headed games where he turns the ball over multiple times.
