49ers Tight ends (4)

TE George Kittle

TE Ross Dwelley

TE Charlie Woerner

TE Josh Pederson

From one of the most difficult to predict to one of the easiest with the other group of pass-catchers who will make San Francisco’s roster.

The team didn’t draft anybody to compete at this position, although it did bring in Josh Pederson, son of former Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson, as an undrafted free agent to see if he can crack the roster.

Otherwise, this is a fairly uncomplicated group.

George Kittle is an All-Pro who struggled through an injury-plagued 2020 but still managed to be productive when he was on the field in spite of the quarterback carousel swirling around him. He still caught 48 passes for 634 yards and two touchdowns in just eight games.

Look for a bounce-back year for the 49ers’ star.

Ross Dwelley’s job as TE2 is safe for now unless Pederson makes good on the promise he showed in his final two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe, where he caught 72 passes for 934 yards and nine touchdowns in 22 games.

Last year’s sixth-round draft pick, Charlie Woerner, never really showed much as a receiver during his rookie campaign, grabbing just three catches on four targets for 36 yards, but should make the team as a blocker and special teams player.
