With the 2021 NFL Draft in the rearview, Niner Noise takes a look at who could make the 49ers’ final 53-man roster once training camp is complete.

The San Francisco 49ers closed out the 2021 NFL Draft with eight new members of the team while also adding a small group of undrafted free agents who will be given a shot to make the squad during training camp.

By and large, the Niners roster is in excellent shape after the fine work that was done by general manager John Lynch and the rest of the front office in bringing back much of the team’s massive list of free agents heading into the offseason.

That means that while there aren’t many roster slots that would be considered open, it feels likely all of the draft picks and that small haul of UFDAs will all get a decent shot to make the final roster.

It speaks to the quality of the depth the team has already built via free agency that this is the case.

And while a lot could still happen between now and when training camp and the preseason wrap, with the 90-man roster about as stable as it will be for a while, it seems like the most opportune time to try to take an early stab at who will make San Francisco’s 53-man roster once the season starts.

One caveat to note: as of now the NFL hasn’t announced what the rules will be for the practice squad during the 2021 season. Last year, with the COVID-19 pandemic at its height, the league loosened the regulations so teams could have more veterans on hand as needed as well as just having a larger pool to call players from. So in some places, at least at this point, veterans may make the team where they otherwise might not.

And so, without further ado, it’s the post-NFL Draft projection for the 49ers’ 2021 Week 1 53-man roster.
