49ers Round 2 Target No. 4: Wide Receiver Elijah Moore, Ole Miss

I’ve started to come around to the idea San Francisco might target Ole Miss wide receiver Elijah Moore in Round 2 after initially placing him on a list of prospects the 49ers would be better off avoiding.

My initial concern was Moore’s lack of polished route-running skills. But after diving into some additional tape and seeing the way Ole Miss used him, Moore’s versatility stands out.

That might be one of the reasons he’s steadily climbed into Round 2 consideration.

Like Elijah Molden, it’s probably best to see if Moore slips a bit, perhaps adding some value via a would-be trade down on the 49ers’ part. And while there are going to be some concerns about Moore’s small 5-foot-9 and 185-pound frame, the receiver’s shiftiness and ability to create yards after the catch could play well into head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Especially if Shanahan can be patient and work up Moore’s route-running abilities.

Moore can also double in the return game, too, giving a spark to an area the Niners have had issues with the past few years. San Francisco is also still seeking a viable slot receiver this offseason, too, and Moore could potentially round out this position alongside receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
