49ers fans will want to tune in early to the 2021 NFL Draft with San Francisco selecting at No. 3, and here are the ways you can watch.

We’ve gone from months down to weeks in the countdown to knowing who the San Francisco 49ers will select with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

And now, it’s literally down to the final hours.

The 2021 draft officially begins on Thursday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET from Cleveland, Ohio. A number of iconic locations in the nearby area will be featured, too, including the Cleveland Browns’ FirstEnergy Stadium. And unlike last year when COVID-19 forced the draft to be fully remote, the 2021 draft will feature in-person selections.

When should 49ers fans tune in to watch?

  • Round 1: Thursday, April 29 at 8 p.m. ET
  • Rounds 2 and 3: Friday, April 30 at 7 p.m. ET
  • Rounds 4 through 7: Saturday, May 1 at 12 p.m. ET

The 2021 NFL Draft will feature the same format it has had previously with Round 1 taking up all of day one, while day two of the draft will feature Rounds 2 and 3 and begins an hour earlier than Round 1.

Day three of the draft moves quickly, and often the live commentary will gloss over some of the individual selections as they focus more on higher-profile players who were selected earlier.

Nevertheless, Niners fans will want to be sure they’re paying attention to each one of their team’s current selections.

Each 49ers NFL Draft pick for 2021

San Francisco is set to have nine picks, including two compensatory ones, for the 2021 NFL Draft:

  1. Round 1, Pick No. 3 overall (from Dolphins)
  2. Round 2, Pick No. 43 overall
  3. Round 3, Pick No. 102 overall (compensatory)
  4. Round 4, Pick No. 114 overall
  5. Round 5, Pick No. 155 overall
  6. Round 5, Pick No. 172 overall (from Saints)
  7. Round 5, Pick No. 180 overall (compensatory)
  8. Round 6, Pick No. 194 overall
  9. Round 7, Pick No. 230 overall (from Jets)

The 49ers moved up from their original No. 12 overall pick to get to No. 3 by trading away two future first-round selections, one in 2022 and another in 2023, along with a 2022 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins.

The Niners have made their intentions clear about selecting a quarterback at No. 3 overall.  So, needless to say, there will be no shortage of attention and speculation leading up to San Francisco’s first number being called on April 29.
