NFL Draft Pick No. 23: Najee Harris, Running Back, Alabama

The New York Jets grab a weapon for Zach Wilson. The team needs an upgrade at running back, and Najee Harris would provide that as well as being a safety valve for Wilson on checkdowns and screens.

Harris has been a star for the Crimson Tide, and right now looks to be slightly above Clemson’s Travis Etienne for the best running back in the draft class. Harris has a good chance to be picked on Thursday night.

Harris ran for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns at 5.8 yards per carry, and 43 receptions for 425 yards and four touchdowns. He’s a multidimensional back who can help share the workload for whichever team drafts him.

Harris is a big back (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) who runs downhill hard and has some deceptive athleticism. He is a lead back, and won’t need to rotate much as a guy who can also catch the ball on obvious passing downs.
