NFL Draft Pick No. 13: Alijah Vera-Tucker, Offensive Tackle, USC

Justin Herbert looked like an absolute stud at quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers despite the thinking that he would need developmental time in the NFL. The Chargers need to protect their investment.

The team did well to get some very strong interior blockers, but their top need remains a left tackle. Rashawn Slater is a possibility here, but some teams think he’s a guard more than a tackle, and there are no such concerns with USC’s Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Vera-Tucker can play at tackle or guard and moved to left tackle in 2020 where he played well. He’s not strong at the point of attack, but very scrappy and keeps defenders out of the backfield.

It’s hard to see this not being an offensive lineman, and it may just be a matter of who the Chargers like more.
