49ers: 3 sleeper targets for Round 2 pick in 2021 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
49ers Sleeper No. 1: Offensive Tackle Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins is one of a number of offensive linemen who is on the fringes of being selected either in Round 1 or Round 2. Jenkins slipping towards San Francisco’s second-round pick might be a bit of a reach, but a lot of that would depend on how some of the other teams looking at O-line help this draft view him.
Still, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound lineman has more than enough to offer and can be a seamless fit in a zone-style offense, particularly one which focuses heavily on the run game.

So, why would the 49ers entertain drafting a tackle early after re-signing left tackle Trent Williams to a massive six-year extension? Seems a bit redundant, right?
Well, maybe. But maybe not.
The Niners have a decision to make at right tackle with Mike McGlinchey, specifically whether or not to pick up his fully guaranteed fifth-year option by May 3. McGlinchey has been one of the league’s best in run support but hasn’t improved much in terms of his pass protection. San Francisco might want to pass the torch to another player on a rookie contract instead of retaining McGlinchey for the long run.
Meanwhile, Jenkins is equipped to play guard, too, which might free up a player like presumed right guard Daniel Brunskill to occupy a key backup role.
In that analysis, there’s some sense why Jenkins could be on the 49ers’ target list for Round 2 if he falls.
