The 49ers re-signed Trent Williams and added Alex Mack, which means the offensive line heads into 2021 with fewer questions than a year ago.

Heading into 2021, it was understandable to think the San Francisco 49ers offensive line was, perhaps, the biggest positional worry point after what was a worrisome campaign amid a myriad of injuries the previous year.

Two simple yet crucial moves helped solve the bulk of those worries, however.

Chief among these was the Niners re-signing eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams to a massive six-year deal. Expensive? Yes. But San Francisco is embracing the saying, “you get what you pay for.”

On top of that, the 49ers inked veteran free-agent center Alex Mack, a six-time Pro Bowler, to anchor perhaps the most important spot along the O-line.

Those two moves all but made the Niners’ O-line a significantly less concern heading into NFL Draft season. San Francisco no longer has to worry about finding an immediate replacement for Williams, either a veteran choice or from the draft, and the year-plus long absence of center Weston Richburg that created such an issue at the position in 2020 won’t be an issue again with Mack under contract.

So, what will that O-line look like when the 53-man roster is created ahead of Week 1?

The 2021 draft is laden with talented O-line prospects, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see the 49ers add a player or two here to bolster the depth chart and potentially serve as long-term options.

But based on what we know now in the wake of Williams and Mack being added to the roster, let’s make some positional breakdowns and predictions for this unit for 2021.
