5 cornerbacks 49ers can target on Day 2 of 2021 NFL Draft

49ers Cornerback Target No. 3: Eric Stokes, Georgia
One of the numerous cornerbacks tipping between Rounds 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft is Georgia’s Eric Stokes.
Stokes’ 6-foot-1 frame looks solid enough for boundary roles, but his 185-pound build is a little light, and there are likely some questions about the Bulldog’s durability while going up against bigger, stronger receivers at the NFL level.
That said, Stokes rarely shies away from contact, which has sometimes led to him getting in trouble with penalties. Those could be problematic at the pro level, yet Stokes managed to showcase his productiveness in 2018 and 2019 with nine passes broken up each of those two seasons.
Then in 2020, Stokes had a collegiate career-best four interceptions along with two defensive touchdowns.
The 49ers are going to be seeking a playmaking cornerback in the wake of bidding farewell to the veteran, Richard Sherman, and Stokes has that trajectory.
If he’s able to bulk up a bit while maintaining his speed and fluidity, the Niners could end up getting themselves a quality corner on day two.
