49ers Round 6 Pick, No. 194 Overall: Tight End Nick Eubanks, Michigan

Last season, the Niners showed their desire to have two strong pass-catching options at tight end when they brought in Jordan Reed to play across from George Kittle. As of this writing, Reed is a free agent, so unless San Francisco re-signs him, looking to the draft to grab a complementary option to Kittle is still in play.

If so, Michigan tight end Nick Eubanks could be a great choice.

At 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, Eubanks has the size to be a great pass-catching tight end. However, his college performance was less than stellar. He showed his ability to make plays, but like many other players the 49ers are taking in this mock, he will need time to develop into an elite NFL talent.

However, what better player to learn from than Kittle, perhaps the best tight end in the NFL? Eubanks certainly has the raw skills to develop into a strong NFL player with the right training, and the Niners could certainly provide the right training.

Perhaps San Francisco takes Eubanks in order to attempt having two pass-catching tight ends on the field after Kittle’s injury paused 2020’s chance with Reed.
