No. 2: 49ers trade for Deshaun Watson

What if the 49ers gave up all that capital to move up in the NFL Draft, only to give up more and go get Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson? Is there anyone in the draft that you would rather take over Watson?

There is only one correct answer to that.

In 2020, Watson played on a terrible football team, as stated by their former picture boy, J.J Watt, and still led the league in passing yards. He was sacked the second most times out of all the quarterbacks in the league and yet he still did magical things with the ball in his hands.

San Francisco is loaded with receiver options and will likely have one of the best rushing attacks in all of football. Doesn’t that sound like an offense a player like Watson could thrive in?

Rookie quarterbacks are great because they are cheap. And if they turn out to be the next Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes, then your franchise is set for the next few years. Probably more. But, a lot of the time, those rookie QBs fail to make the grade and crash and burn in the big leagues. Johnny Manziel to name one.

If Watson is available, every team, except the Kansas City Chiefs, should be making a play for him.

The 49ers could certainly do with someone of Watson’s caliber.
