No. 4: Carolina Panthers

Here’s another team that doesn’t seem to be too convinced with its current quarterback situation.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater plays a similar game to Jimmy Garoppolo but does everything at a noticeably lower level while making a similar salary.

Both quarterbacks are limited in their mobility, but it’s well known Jimmy G has the better downfield arm, and would slot in nicely into the Panthers system.

Some may not see Garoppolo as that big of an upgrade, but let’s compare the two for a second. Bridgewater started 15 games last season and was only able to throw 15 touchdowns versus 11 interceptions. Shockingly, the 15 touchdowns were a career-high for Bridgewater. In 2019, Garoppolo threw 27 touchdowns in 16 starts, along with only 13 picks, and a 69 completion percentage. Garoppolo also made it to the Super Bowl that year, in case any of you forgot.

Again, the Panthers may not see Jimmy G as their starter in the long term. But he would be an immediate upgrade who would provide a lot more stability for a team that has struggled to even sniff the playoffs since the departure of now-New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newtown.
