Cornerbacks currently under contract with 49ers into 2021

Again, Emmanuel Moseley is just one key name to potentially round out the depth chart. While he was in and out of the starting lineup for much of 2020, at least the 49ers were comfortable enough to let him start for the bulk of the playoffs the previous season, and one could guess Moseley would be a prime candidate to start again in 2021.

Including Moseley, the Niners have the following corners under contract heading into the upcoming year:

  • Emmanuel Moseley
  • Tim Harris
  • Ken Webster
  • Mark Fields II
  • Adonis Alexander

The remaining depth doesn’t exactly scream “experience,” so one would figure the remaining four names behind Moseley are going to compete for a roster spot as a reserve or somewhere on the practice squad if training camp and a hopeful 2021 preseason can’t justify another team from prying any of those players away.

Harris, who’ll turn 26 years old before Week 1, is of some interest after San Francisco used a sixth-round NFL Draft pick on him in 2019.

Redshirted his rookie year, Harris got into just two games in 2020, yet all of his snaps came on special teams. Still, the 6-foot-2, 197-pound defensive back might be the developmental piece the 49ers can turn into a reserve boundary starter if need be.
