49ers Round 1 Pick, No. 12 Overall: Cornerback Jaycee Horn

Much like it did in my initial mock draft right after the Super Bowl, South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn is the pick at No.12 overall. Like I said then, Horn has the physical characteristics the 49ers are looking for at the position:

"Horn has the physical attributes teams look for in a modern corner, standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing in around 205 pounds, and is a physical and aggressive cornerback who has improved during each of his three seasons at South Carolina."

Yes, this is heavily about the need the Niners have at the position, and since this is an all-defensive mock, it seems like the most pressing move to make.

But it appears I’m not the only person high on Horn, as former NFL cornerback Eric Crocker of the Crocker Report currently has him listed as his top corner in the draft, meaning the 49ers could be getting a steal at No. 12:

Horn would likely slide in as an immediate starter opposite either Emmanuel Moseley or Jason Verrett if the 49ers find a way to work out the latter’s return.

Hopefully, Horn would be able to add a playmaking spark to the back end of the defense.
