49ers Trade Partner No. 1: Atlanta Falcons

There’s always the chance the Niners want to be aggressive on draft day and move up into the top five, likely a move to land one of those top quarterbacks without question.

More from Niner Noise

Getting to the picks between Nos. 1 through 3 might be overly aggressive and cost John Lynch and Co. too much as far as draft capital. But if there’s a more reasonable method to attack a trade-up, it might be for San Francisco to flirt with the Atlanta Falcons for the No. 4 overall pick.

Atlanta, too, could be in the market for a quarterback to eventually replace the veteran, Matt Ryan. The latest scoop suggests the Falcons are still committed to Ryan in 2021, so there’s that to consider.

But regardless, Atlanta is another one of those teams with needs all across the board.

The Falcons do have all their picks between Rounds 1 through 6, but that’s it. Six selections won’t be enough to completely turn around what was a 4-12 team under now-fired head coach Dan Quinn and his former general manager, Thomas Dimitroff. So if Atlanta is eyeing a move down in Round 1 while not worrying about a long-term quarterback, a team like the 49ers could easily be a trade partner.

Getting to No. 4 overall won’t come cheap from San Francisco’s vantage point.

Yet if it means the 49ers land a quarterback like Zach Wilson or Justin Fields, it might be more than worth it.
