2021 NFL Draft: Broncos (via Lions) select cornerback Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech

Ah, yes. A trade.

The Detroit Lions could and should receive some calls about the No. 7 overall pick. And with their selection (you’ll see in a moment), they’ll have some wiggle room to move down based on positional value.

The Denver Broncos, meanwhile, could move up to this spot and grab one of the remaining quarterbacks. Or they could move up and grab someone else to fill a vast position of need, Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley.

Farley is in the running for the best corner in the draft this year, and having someone of that nature would be pretty important for a Broncos team that has to square off against quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs twice a year.

Especially in the wake of veteran cornerback A.J. Bouye being shown the door.

Even if it means another year of quarterback Drew Lock, expect head coach Vic Fangio to continue focus on the defense.
