2021 NFL Draft: Eagles select wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Alabama

Well, wouldn’t this be a nice little reunion between two former Crimson Tide players?

In all honesty, the weapon-needy Philadelphia Eagles are likely to grab whichever wide receiver falls to them out of Ja’Marr Chase and Alabama’s DeVonta Smith. And they shouldn’t complain.

The Eagles are fully committed to quarterback Jalen Hurts now, who has to feel some vindication after losing his collegiate job to Tua Tagovailoa before transferring out to Oklahoma, and it would be a pipe dream for Hurts to end up with one of college football’s most exciting playmakers in recent years and the 2020 Heisman Trophy recipient.

Philly should be spending a considerable amount of effort this offseason to ensure Hurts has the weapons he needs, and landing a player of Smith’s caliber would be a quick and easy decision.
