2021 NFL Draft: 49ers bulk up secondary in full Round 1 mock

2021 NFL Draft: Buccaneers select EDGE Carlos Basham Jr., Wake Forest
The defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers do have quite the tough array of decisions to make this offseason. Is wide receiver Chris Godwin a must-re-sign player? How about veteran linebacker Lavonte David? Also, can the Bucs pony up enough money to re-sign their star edge rusher, Shaquil Barrett, who won’t return on the cheap?

Assuming Tampa Bay can re-sign Barrett, which won’t be easy, it’ll likely mean the team parts ways with fellow EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul when he becomes a free agent in 2022.
And if the Super Bowl proved anything, it’s that a one-two pass-rushing punch can be just as important as having a Hall of Fame-caliber quarterback under center.
One of those fringe pass-rushers hovering between Rounds 1 and 2 is Wake Forest’s Carlos Basham Jr., who at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, saw his production fall off a bit in 2020 after posting a 10-sack season the year before.
That said, Basham has the physical tools to be dominant along the line of scrimmage and should have little trouble bullying some of the better pass blockers in the league, provided he refines some of his moves.
The 2021 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 29.
