2021 NFL Draft: 49ers bulk up secondary in full Round 1 mock

2021 NFL Draft: Chiefs select offensive guard Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
Super Bowl LV showed just how important it is to have quality offensive lines. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had it, while the Chiefs were reeling from an injury to left tackle Eric Fisher, which created a shuffle drill throughout the rest of this unit.
Fisher and right tackle Mitchell Schwartz are both entering contract years, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Kansas City find some eventual replacements. But considering the Chiefs’ Super Bowl window is open right now, it would be more prudent to find a plug-and-play guard to shore up that need instead.
Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis is one of those players on the fringes between Rounds 1 and 2. While it might be considered a reach by some to make him a first-round selection, Davis is right up there with the best interior linemen in this year’s class.
For a team like the Chiefs needing to shore up the O-line, it’s not the time to get cute and hope a player of Davis’ caliber falls later in the draft.
