2021 NFL Draft: Bills select offensive tackle Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
The Buffalo Bills don’t have too many needs on either side of the ball, but it’s pretty apparent they need to get stronger within the trenches.
It’s possible head coach Sean McDermott chooses to upgrade the pass-rush department in order to find a long-term replacement for his veteran, Jerry Hughes. But with four of his five starting offensive linemen pegged for free agency, the smarter move would be to kick off the Bills’ NFL Draft class with an offensive lineman.
Again, remember, it’s a deep class.
Michigan tackle Jalen Mayfield has the thump and prowess to be a day-one starter. While it’s probably best for him to start off his NFL career at right tackle or perhaps inside at guard, Mayfield projects to be a solid option for quarterback Josh Allen’s blindside, potentially moving into that role in year two depending on what Buffalo does in free agency.
