2021 NFL Draft: Giants select tight end Kyle Pitts, Florida
Head coach Joe Judge’s defense showed the NY Giants’ rebuild is actually closer than one might think.
But New York’s offense was surely painful to watch.
Getting running back Saquon Barkley back from his ACL tear will help matters a lot. Yet it might be time to start thinking whether or not quarterback Daniel Jones is the long-term answer under center. Granted, Jones didn’t exactly have much help last year, and the Giants offense was abysmal as a result.
Before giving up on Jones completely, though, it would be wise to surround him with some added weapons.
Tight end isn’t exactly a need for New York, particularly with Evan Engram in town. But Florida tight end Kyle Pitts might be the NFL Draft’s best pass-catcher regardless of position, and he’s an absolute mismatch nightmare. It doesn’t matter if he’s a tight end. Pitts is simply a massive offensive weapon.
Those are the kind of playmakers the Giants need to add on offense.
