No. 4: Chiefs Offensive Lineman Daniel Kilgore

It’s never a bad idea to cheer for an SF 49ers alumnus, and an under-the-radar fan favorite from the earlier parts of last decade was veteran offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore.

Kilgore, of course, was the Niners’ fifth-round selection from the 2011 NFL Draft, and he stayed through the dark years post-head coach Jim Harbaugh and even impressed enough in 2017 to earn a contract extension under San Francisco’s current regime. Except for the SF 49ers traded him away to the Miami Dolphins early in 2018 after he inked that deal.

The 33-year-old Kilgore had an interesting run-in with COVID-19 leading up to the Super Bowl. The team’s barber was in mid-haircut with Kilgore when test results came back positive. The barber was removed immediately.

And while Kilgore’s status for the Super Bowl remains in question, the veteran at least had some fun with his situation on Twitter:

That’s pretty good.

Even if Kilgore doesn’t play but the Chiefs win, San Francisco fans can feel a little good about him receiving a Super Bowl ring.
