No. 3: Pass-interference replay rule

The NFL did away with the replay review on pass-interference calls after just one season (2019). Ask any SF 49ers fans, and they will tell you the NFL should have had it available for the Super Bowl last season.

Tight end George Kittle‘s offensive pass-interference call negated a Niners’ last-minute drive in the first half of a 10-10 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course, if you were to ask Seahawks fans, they got robbed in the NFC Championship game when linebacker Fred Warner was not called for pass interference in the end zone while guarding the Seahawks’ Jacob Hollister on Seattle’s final drive.

While every team has had pass interference calls go for or against them both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, the problem lies in the fact they review just about every play nowadays. Yet, somehow, spot fouls on defensive pass-interference calls can potentially yield the most yards of any penalty on a team.

My final executive order as the new “President” of the NFL would be bringing back the ability to replay review offensive and defensive pass interference calls.

Yes, this would slow the game down a bit, but I think most fans just want the call right, and that it would be worth the extra few minutes added on to the game.

While these are the hypothetical executive orders I would implement if I were in the NFL’s front office, every fan has their pet peeve regarding rules in the NFL that they would either like to implement or do away with or all together.

One thing is almost certain, with technology advancing so quickly, it won’t be long before the NFL adds, subtracts, or tinkers with the rules once again.
