No. 4: Tight End Gerald Everett, LA Rams
Last offseason, the SF 49ers made numerous strides trying to land another tight end to back up George Kittle.
They eventually settled on two options, rookie tight end Charlie Woerner as a run blocker and the veteran, Jordan Reed, who fell out of Kyle Shanahan’s offensive picture down the stretch and figures not to be retained after his one-year deal with the Niners.
Scheme fit is going to be important if San Francisco wants to consider this approach, and few systems mirror what Shanahan does more than the LA Rams under their head coach, Sean McVay.
And that could mean purging one of the Rams’ many pass-catching weapons, four-year pro tight end Gerald Everett.
Everett managed back-to-back 400-plus yard seasons with Los Angeles the last two years but has been primarily a tertiary option for McVay behind other prolific receivers, namely Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods.
As such, Everett might want a bigger role, and he likely could be afforded that in San Francisco.
As long as his asking price isn’t too much, although pairing Everett with George Kittle would be notable.
