No. 3: Brandon Aiyuk has turned out to be a Christmas miracle in a rather forgettable season.

When the SF 49ers were slatted to pick in the top 15 of the 2020 NFL Draft, many had them taking a receiver. But rookie Brandon Aiyuk was certainly not on anyone’s NORAD tracker.

Aiyuk has been one of the lone bright spots in 2020. The rookie from Arizona State has 59 receptions, 733 yards, and seven total touchdowns.

This past week, NFL superstar Randy Moss claimed Jerry Rice was the “third or fourth” best receiver of all time. Well, Aiyuk is nearing one of Rice’s rookie records.

Brandon Aiyuk is just 195 yards away from passing Rice’s record for receiving yards by a rookie. Niner Noise’s Peter Panacy digs a bit deeper into the potential history maker here.

All SF 49ers want to see from the rookie is to improve and stay healthy during the 2021 season. With the potential of receiver Deebo Samuel getting back to 100 percent by next spring, fans might finally get to see the potential of these two together.
