The SF 49ers have little reason to let these three players see the field when the Niners visit the Cowboys in Week 15.

Following their loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 14, the SF 49ers are now looking hard at a sub-.500 record this season and have more on the line for 2021 than they do for any dim hopes of making the playoffs this year.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan and his players won’t bring up the notion of tanking, and the idea of finishing these final three games on a high note is important, of course.

That said, the Niners are currently slated for the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the difference between that pick and the No. 4 overall selection is a mere one game off San Francisco’s current win total.

A team currently ranked to pick ahead of the SF 49ers next year is their next opponent, the 4-9 Dallas Cowboys, who have gone through the roughest of seasons in the wake of quarterback Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury earlier this season. That, combined with a swarm of defensive problems, could spell an opportunity for Shanahan and Co. to get their sixth win of the season.

At this point, though, it would be wise for the Niners to focus less on winning and more on 2021, which means shaking up the roster a bit and putting players on the field who deserve a bit more looks over these final three games.

If that’s the case, these three players shouldn’t wind up seeing the field in Week 15 unless San Francisco’s bad luck with injuries continues during Sunday’s contest in Arlington.
