The SF 49ers defense had little to no answers for the high-flying Bills offense. It showed with Josh Allen leading the way.

The SF 49ers… er, sorry. Arizona 49ers? Phoenix 49ers? Whatever name you want to call them, the storyline remained the same: The SF 49ers aren’t built to stop a mobile quarterback. The problem on Monday Night Football was the mobile quarterback didn’t need to be mobile and beat the team through the air.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who grew up an SF 49ers fan, absolutely shredded the defense completing 32 passes on 40 attempts, 375 yards, and four touchdowns with zero interceptions.

It wasn’t the best “congratulations” gift for defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who welcomed his seventh child into the world. It also didn’t help, the 49ers offense wasn’t as productive like many hoped they’d be.

Allen should be in the conversation for MVP. He’s had a phenomenal season and has the Bills leading the AFC East for the first time in ages.

To scale down Allen’s season into the matchup against the 49ers, here’s his Next Gen Stats:

And if you’re wondering if the asterisk beside the 224 yards outside the numbers means a career-high, it does.

The 49ers corners allowed Allen and his receivers all the room on the outside. The coverage was soft, as it seems to have been all year, and Allen didn’t even have to utilize his own run game because his receivers were open all night.

The only blemish on Allen’s resume Monday night was two fumbles. Which proved the SF 49ers defense were trying. But unfortunately, the way the Bills have played this year, anything Saleh’s crew tried ultimately failed.

Helping Allen on prime time was wide receiver, Cole Beasley. The veteran caught nine passes for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Beasley’s touchdown was well contested by the SF 49ers defense. But Bills Gabriel Davis’ touchdown was not:

Davis ran a simple fly route past cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman got caught flat-footed when he thought Beasley was the intended target. The All-Pro corner might’ve thought he was getting help from the safety, Tarvarius Moore, as well.

But when all was said and done, Davis caught the deep ball from Allen while three SF 49ers defenders were watching. It’s been that sort of year for this team.

If you want to look for a positive from the Niners’ game plan on Josh Allen, they were able to hold him to just 11 yards rushing on six attempts. It’s his third-lowest rushing game of the season. But as discussed throughout, he didn’t need to run as he put up his third-highest passing game of the year.

As a whole, the SF 49ers just never got much going. Their first defensive play from scrimmage, they were drawn offside by Allen and it just downhill from there.

With talks of Saleh becoming a head coach next year, his squad isn’t helping any potential suitors.

Next. Grades, analysis from SF 49ers walloping by Josh Allen, Bills. dark

As the story goes, another kid who grew up an SF 49ers fan takes on his childhood team and makes them look ridiculous. Maybe one day the organization will find someone who grew up a fan and sign them.

Until then, we just move on from Josh Allen and the Bills dissecting the 49ers on Monday Night Football.
