Round 7, Pick No. 223 Overall (from Jets): SF 49ers select EDGE Micheal Clemons, Texas A&M

The Niners hurt for pass-rushing depth in 2020, namely after losing edge rushers Nick Bosa and Dee Ford to injuries.

Whether or not Ford returns next season is up for debate, but San Francisco would still be wise to bolster its pass rush during the offseason anyway. Especially with depth pass-rushers Kerry Hyder, who currently leads the team in sacks, and defensive end Ronald Blair both pegged for free agency.

Texas A&M EDGE Micheal Clemons surely saw his draft stock take a hit with an ankle injury that required surgery, and his spring workouts will go a long way in determining his value.

Still, it’s hard to overlook Clemons’ four sacks he had in five games for the Aggies this season before getting hurt.

At 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, Clemons has the tools to be a solid situational pass-rusher at the NFL level if he can maintain the kind of burst he showed before his injury.

And remember, pass-rushing depth never hurts.
