No. 2: Deebo Samuel’s 33-yard jet-sweep scamper sets up an SF 49ers touchdown
Deebo Samuel was all over the place during Sunday’s game, recording 11 receptions and posting 133 receiving yards, which led all pass-catchers from both sides in Week 12.
While Samuel’s 24-yard fourth-quarter reception was clutch, that particular play was arguably overshadowed by his noteworthy 33-yard jet-sweep “reception” early in the first quarter in which Samuel got around the edge and evaded Rams defenders to move the ball deep into Rams territory:
Two plays later, Nick Mullens hit Samuel for a 26-yard pickup, getting the Niners into the red zone where running back Raheem Mostert would capitalize with an 8-yard touchdown run.
Turns out that would be San Francisco’s lone offensive touchdown of the game.
These end-around plays have become a major part of Samuel’s explosive skill set, and he made the Rams hurt with his overall performance in Week 12.
