SF 49ers Winner: Deebo Samuel

Yes, the SF 49ers sorely missed wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

Samuel, who missed Weeks 8 through 10 with a hamstring injury, made his return to the field. And despite quarterback Nick Mullens having some difficulty moving the ball through the air, Samuel still bailed out the signal-caller with an impressive 11-catch, 133-yard game.

His 33-yard jet sweep helped set up Raheem Mostert’s first-quarter touchdown and was a key turning-point moment early in the contest.

Yet one could make the argument his 24-yard catch-and-run grab on 3rd-and-2 late in the fourth quarter was even more important:

That grab was essential in getting the Niners into field-goal range, where Robbie Gould connected for a game-winning field goal.

Yes, Samuel’s health has been something of a problem this season. But as has been the case with so many other players returning from injury, it’s pretty obvious just how much better San Francisco is when Samuel is in the lineup and contributing.

He sure did in Week 12, and the SF 49ers are just a game below the .500 mark because of it.
