Niner Noise looks at the SF 49ers’ blueprint for success for the 2021 season.

Hard to believe where the SF 49ers are just nine months removed after playing in Super Bowl LIV. After being decimated by injuries and struggling to a 4-6 record during the first half-plus of the 2020 season, times sure have changed.

Although the NFL has added an extra playoff spot starting this season, the Niners face the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL, further dimming their hopes for any semblance of success in 2020.

While the fanbase is affectionately known as the 49ers Faithful, this season is doing everything in its power to test that faith. While the team is technically alive for a playoff spot, few truly believe San Francisco, in its current state, can mount much of a threat for that spot. Even with some players potentially returning from injured reserve, you could field an entire team with the list of injured players who have missed time this year.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has had to mix and match and patch together a team with not only backups but third-string and practice-squad players as well.

To say it has been a challenge would be a huge understatement.

With that said, the front office is most assuredly looking ahead to the offseason to determine which moves to make to put the club back in position to compete for championships.

Niner Noise looks at a potential blueprint for Shanahan, general manager John Lynch and Co. to follow to bring the SF 49ers back to being a Super Bowl contender next year.
