SF 49ers: Rookie report-card grades halfway through 2020 season
By Peter Panacy
49ers Undrafted Rookies
For your reference, the SF 49ers brought aboard the following undrafted free agents following the 2020 NFL Draft:
San Francisco 49ers
- Broc Rutter, QB, North Central
- Salvon Ahmed, RB, Washington
- JaMycal Hasty, RB, Baylor
- Josh Hokit, FB, Fresno State
- Chris Finke, WR, Notre Dame
- Chase Harrell, TE, Arkansas
- Darrion Daniels, NT, Nebraska
- Jonas Griffith, LB, Indiana State
- DeMarkus Acy, CB, Missouri
- Jared Mayden, S, Alabama
Hasty, Harrell, Daniels, Griffith and Mayden are still on the Niners roster, Hasty being the one who has seen the most time as the season has moved along. Mayden accounted for himself fairly well on special teams in Week 7 against the New England Patriots.
But Hasty is the focus.
Injuries at running back put Hasty into the picture much more than would have been initially thought. True, Hasty has had some ball-security issues and was all but shut down in Week 9 against the Packers.
Yet he’s managed 135 rush yards, a touchdown and is averaging a halfway-decent 3.8 yards per carry behind an offensive line that’s had trouble blocking for much of the season.
Not a terrible return for a player who seemed poised to hang around on the practice squad all year.
