Niner Noise breaks down our latest seven-round SF 49ers mock NFL Draft halfway through the 2021 NFL Draft, including a big-time move early.

The SF 49ers find themselves at 4-5 just beyond the halfway point of their 2020 campaign, and it’s looking increasingly clear head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are going to see their team miss out on the playoffs after making the Super Bowl last season.

There are plenty of reasons why.

Injuries, of course, have proven to be disastrous for the Niners, highlighted by the team losing EDGE Nick Bosa and defensive end Solomon Thomas to season-ending injuries, EDGE Dee Ford being out indefinitely with a back injury, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo going down with another high-ankle sprain and tight end George Kittle likely missing the rest of the year with a broken foot.

And those are just parts of all the injury woes San Francisco has dealt with this season, largely explaining the lackluster start to the season.

Fortunately, Lynch has managed to accrue some capital for the 2021 NFL Draft, currently boasting eight picks through Rounds 1 and 7, and he’s likely to land a fifth-round compensatory pick for the loss of wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in free agency last year.

It’s obviously still unknown where the SF 49ers will be selecting in next year’s draft. But let’s start off with the current spot at No. 15 overall in Niner Noise’s latest mock draft at the halfway point of the regular season.

San Francisco has plenty of needs and could be facing a lot of shakeups, too, making the notion of trades and draft-day moves all the more possible.

Kicking things off with a blockbuster grab in Round 1.
