Niner Noise lists the studs and duds from the SF 49ers loss to the Seahawks in Week 8.

In what was a very telling game for the SF 49ers, they fell 37-27 to the archrival Seattle Seahawks in a game that was frankly not as close as the score suggested.

To add further injury to injury, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle suffered yet more injuries in a season that has had so many players hurt, the Niners roster resembles something akin to the list of a hospital ward rather than a group of athletes.

After a few weeks of promising football where the SF 49ers showed they could still be a playoff contender in the NFC despite the extensive injury list, the Seahawks brought the Niners back down to earth in conjunction with the injuries to Garoppolo and Kittle.

It didn’t help that the team didn’t play well beforehand. Backup quarterback Nick Mullens came in and performed well, but it was in garbage time and he didn’t see the best of the Seattle defense.

San Francisco’s defense had no answer for Seahawks wide receive D.K. Metcalf, and quarterback Russell Wilson was in MVP form.

There was some reason to smile in the long term for San Francisco which we will address here, however, and there is such a player first up to bring some relief from the doom and gloom which was Week 8.
